What is a good morning routine for a Christian man?
A good morning routine for a Christian man is short, fixed and done before the phone: read one Bible passage, pray in silence for a few minutes, then do one physical or practical hard thing. Ten minutes is enough to start. The order matters more than the length, because the first thing you give attention to tends to set the rest of the day.
Jesus had his own version. Mark 1:35 says:
“Early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there.”Mark 1:35, World English Bible
Notice what is missing: a long list. He got up, went somewhere quiet and prayed. Psalm 5:3 adds the posture: “In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.”
Short, fixed and before the phone: that is the whole routine.
Who this is not for
- Shift workers coming off nights. Your “morning” may be 4 p.m. Keep the order, move the clock, and do not cut sleep to chase a 6 a.m. ideal. The CDC's sleep guidance says adults 18 to 60 need seven or more hours a night.
- Men who already have a long quiet time. If you pray an hour and read three chapters, you do not need this. You might need the first-week ramp below for something else.
- Men looking for a workout plan. The “hard thing” is two minutes of discipline, not training.
Keep your sleep; move the clock instead.
Build your first week
Set your wake time and how many minutes you really have. You get a timed plan, and a 7-day ramp that starts small on Day 1 so you are still going on Day 7. Print it and leave it on the coffee maker.

Day 1 should feel almost too easy. That is the point.
Morning routine questions
How long should a Christian man's morning devotion be?
Ten minutes is enough to start: about four minutes reading one passage, three praying in silence and three doing one physical or practical task. A short routine you keep beats an hour you skip.
Should I read the Bible before I check my phone?
Yes, if you can. The first screen you see tends to set your agenda. Put the phone across the room and open a Bible, paper or app, before messages or news.
What if I'm not a morning person?
Keep the order and move the time. Word, prayer and one hard thing work at lunch or after dinner too. What matters is a fixed cue, the same one every day.
What should I read first?
Start with one short passage a day rather than a whole book. Mark 1:35 and Psalm 5:3 are good first mornings. If the Bible is new to you, FORGED's free Bible Basics sessions explain what the Bible is and how to read it.
Same cue, same order, every day.

Body
Pick a daily challenge at Gentle, Standard or Challenging. Limited mobility or not up for exercise? Choose a mobility alternative or an act of service; every option counts. FORGED is a devotional routine, not medical or fitness advice.Mind
Read one passage quoted word for word from the World English Bible, with a plain-English explanation and one action for the day. Switch between Quick Read, Go Deeper and Original Passage.Spirit
Pray with a 3, 5 or 10-minute timer that dims the screen to a single ember. Before the Sun is one of the 14 badges, for men who like an early start.
A design decision worth knowing: Home shows one clear next step, not a menu. At 6 a.m. you should not have to choose. An honest limitation: FORGED gives you one passage a day, so if you want to read the whole Bible in a year, use a reading plan alongside it.
Body, Mind, Spirit: about ten minutes, then the day.
