When does Advent start in 2026?
Advent 2026 starts on Sunday, November 29, 2026, and runs to Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24. That is 26 days and four Sundays: November 29, December 6, December 13 and December 20 (CalendarDate's 2026 Advent calendar). This plan gives you one reading for each of those 26 days.
Twenty-six short mornings, four Sundays, one story told in order.
Honest limits
- This is our plan, not a church lectionary. Many churches follow set Sunday readings. We put the story in order instead: the promises, the people who prepared, then the birth. If your church reads something else on Sunday, read theirs too.
- FORGED has no Advent plan inside it. The app is a 90-day plan for men. This page is free and stands alone; the app is for what comes after.
- Ten minutes will not fix a hard December. It gives you one fixed point in the day. That is the whole design decision: a small, dated reading you can finish, rather than a big plan you abandon.
A plan you finish beats a better plan you drop on December 9.
How the Advent reading plan for men works
- Pick your minutes above. 5 shows the key passage only. 10 adds one question. 15 swaps in a longer passage, often the full scene.
- Read the day's passage, then the verse in the box. The verse is quoted word for word from the World English Bible.
- Do the hard thing before noon. Each day ends with one plain action: a call, a phone in another room, a dish washed without a word.
Read it, answer it, do one thing about it.

Missed days? Read this
If you miss a day of an Advent reading plan, skip to today's date and keep going. Do not try to catch up on five passages in one night; that is how plans die. Read the missed passages on a Sunday afternoon if you want them, or let them go.
Here is the mid-December pattern most men know: a good first week, one late night at work, two missed mornings, then the plan quietly disappears. The fix is not more willpower. It is a smaller target. If a week goes sideways, switch the chooser to 5 minutes and keep the date.
for a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.Proverbs 24:16, WEB
Missed days are a box to skip, not a verdict.

Advent reading plan FAQ
What should men read during Advent?
Read the promises of a coming King (Genesis, Isaiah, Micah, Malachi), then the people who prepared for him (Zacharias, John, Mary, Joseph) in Luke 1 and Matthew 1, then the birth in Luke 2 and John 1. This plan follows that order over 26 days.
How many days are in Advent 2026?
Advent 2026 has 26 days if you count from Sunday, November 29 through Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24. The length changes each year because Advent always starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas.
Can I start the plan late?
Yes. Open the plan, find today's date and start there. The page highlights today's reading automatically between November 29 and December 24.
Which Bible translation does the plan use?
Every quoted verse is from the World English Bible, a public-domain modern English translation, copied from ebible.org. You can read the passages in any translation you own.
Do I need the FORGED app to use this plan?
No. The plan on this page is free and works on paper. FORGED is a separate 90-day plan for men if you want a daily routine after Christmas.
Inside FORGED

FORGED gives you one ten-minute day at a time: a practical challenge (Gentle, Standard or Challenging), one passage explained in plain English, and quiet time for prayer. Missed days never erase what you've earned. No account needed.
Who should pick something else
- If your church gives out an Advent devotional, use that one. Reading with your own people beats reading alone.
- If you want a liturgical calendar with daily Mass readings, use your church's lectionary instead of this story-order plan.
- If you have never opened a Bible, start with a Gospel. Luke's first two chapters cover most of this plan anyway.
