What should accountabilitypartners ask each other?

For men starting with a brother: swap the vague question for five sharp ones, then print your card.

Before“So… how are you doing, man?”
After“What did you do last night after ten?”

Drag right. The first gets “fine.” The second gets the truth.

What are good accountability partner questions for men?

Good accountability partner questions for men are specific, about the last seven days, and answerable with a fact rather than a feeling. “Did you look at anything you'd hide from your wife this week?” works; “How's your walk?” doesn't. Ask four or five, the same ones every week, and always end with “What should I ask you next time?”

Specific, recent and repeated beats deep, vague and new.

Wesley's 22 vs a 5-question card

The most famous list is the 22 questions used by John Wesley's Holy Club, which Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church describes as questions its members asked in private devotions over 200 years ago. They are searching. They are also a lot for two men in a parking lot at 6:40 a.m.

Holy Club: 22

  1. “Am I honest in all my acts and words, or do I exaggerate?”
  2. “Can I be trusted?”
  3. “Did the Bible live in me today?”
  4. “Do I pray about the money I spend?”
  5. “Is Christ real to me?”

…plus 17 more. Best for private self-examination.

Your card: 5

Four questions chosen from what you actually struggle with, plus one closing question that keeps it honest. Best for a weekly coffee or a phone call. Fits on an index card.

Use the 22 alone with God; use the 5 out loud with a brother.

Honest limits

Our design decision: four questions you will actually ask beat twenty-two you skim.

Confession goes both ways: James says “to one another,” not “to the stronger one.”

    Accountability FAQ

How often should accountability partners meet?

Weekly works best for active struggles because the questions cover a short, memorable stretch of time. Monthly suits steadier seasons. Pick a fixed day and time; a standing call at 7 a.m. Tuesday beats “let's catch up soon.”

What if my accountability partner lies?

Assume the questions will sometimes get a dodge. Asking the same questions every week makes a dodge easier to notice. Ask, “Is there anything you'd answer differently if I asked again?” and leave room for a late honest answer.

Should my accountability partner be my wife?

Most men's ministries suggest another man for this role, so your wife isn't carrying both the hurt and the follow-up. Many couples still agree on what she should be told and when.

How many accountability questions should we ask?

Four or five. Fewer feels thin; more turns the meeting into a checklist. Keep one closing question every time: “What should I ask you next time?”
